Summer Reading Program for Homeschoolers

May 29, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

Every summer my girls participate in our library’s summer reading program.  They earn weekly prizes and a chance to attend a big performance at the end.

We will definitely participate again next month, but I also just found out about this new reading program through The Old Schoolhouse. There will be some great prizes and there is a coloring contest right now to jump start your summer fun.  Submissions must be in before June 15th.

You can check it out here.

Fun summer reading!

Bust That Plateau

Does your diet make you feel like this?

Does your diet make you feel like this?

Monday evening, I had the pleasure of speaking on the Ultimate Homeschool Expo show. If you missed it, you can still purchase tickets to the expo and hear over 100 speakers. Much more affordable than a regular conference and you can wear your pajamas! Woot!

During the call, I had an interesting question asked by Cindy Rushton. She asked, “What do you do when someone hits a plateau?” It’s an important question because plateaus are common and can be rather de-motivating for someone trying to lose weight.

Before I tell you what I do for clients that hit a plateau, let me explain what it is. Our bodies are so wonderfully made that it works hard at keeping the amount of energy consumed in balance with the amount of energy we use. So, our bodies do not like to lose weight. Read more

Amazing Benefits of Krill Oil

May 25, 2009 by Administrator · 1 Comment

There are all sorts of crummy supplements on the market you don’t need. Some of the stuff is flat out junk. Some of the stuff is good, but the actual product and brand is lousy.

And then, there are some products that are just flat out awesome for you.

Bottom line: The health benefits associated with a quality Krill Oil supplement are just too powerful to ignore. I don’t know if I can be any more blunt about it.

Besides the fact Krill Oil doesn’t cause “fish burps” like fish oil capsules do, its just one of the best sources of Essential Fatty Acids.

Krill Oil can also:

Help protect your heart

Improve your memory

Strengthen your immune system

Minimize the damage caused by free radicals

Reduce joint pain and PMS symptoms

Aid the fat loss process

I’m telling you, it really is one heck of a powerful supplement. And the only brand I recommend is the brand I trust completely – Prograde Nutrition.

Their EFA Icon is the best Krill Oil product on the market, as far as I’m concerned.

Yours in health,

Coach Angela

PS – Again, there are all sorts of lousy supplements on the market. But a solid Krill Oil product is NOT one of them. It’s an extremely powerful nutritional product with extraordinary benefits. For the best quality Krill Oil get Prograde Nutrition’s EFA Icon

PPS – Prograde also includes the research studies on Krill Oil. Just click on one of the links above to check those out. You’ll find them at the bottom of the page.

Run a 5K

I DID IT!

I ran my first 5K on Saturday morning.  It was exhilirating.  I found out about this 5K from the youth group at my church.

I knew I could run it.  I just finished a 12 week conditioning program so a 5K would be nothing compared to what I had put myself through.

My oldest daughter and I ran it together.  We started off slow and steady at about a 5 mph pace.  After the first mile, her ankle started bothering her (too much tumbling) and we had to really slow down.  She would walk a while then catch up to me.  By the 2nd mile, she was really hurting and told me to keep going.  So, I sped up a bit to a little faster pace and set my breathing to automatic.  Read more

Breakfast of Champions – Or Not

May 6, 2009 by Administrator · 3 Comments

avocadosI attended a breakfast seminar this morning, at 7:30 am, which was hosted by our Chamber of Commerce. The food offered was your typical continental breakfast of simple carbs (bagels, donuts, danishes) and fruit. I just had a plate of fruit and a cup of coffee. There was no protein to be found and I was kicking myself for not bringing any with me. I’m always teaching others to plan ahead, yet there I was unprepared and mad at myself. I ended up eating an omelet when I got home.

So what does a typical breakfast look like for someone after a fit and lean body? Read more

May Showers

prom-027

Time sure has flown. These last few weeks have been busy with end of the year activities.

My oldest had her junior prom and state championships for tumbling.

I’ve been researching accelerated distance learning.

Boot camps are starting to increase in number due to the wonderful weather in Indiana.

Summer vacation is on my mind as I look longingly at the pool that’s been covered all winter.

My mother is going to be moving in at the end of the summer.

It’s a wonderful time of year. After growing up in Southern California, I have learned to love Spring, Summer and Fall in NW Indiana. I still don’t like winter though. I’m not sure I will ever get used to the cold and being trapped indoors for months at a time.

Every January, we start talking about moving somewhere warmer. Our work here is not yet done.

I’m kinda rambling today, huh?

Well, it is time for another workout of the month. I will have that posted soon with the video links attached. What I’m going to give you is an entire month’s plan to get in shape before it’s time to put on that bathing suit. I hope everyone will take advantage of it. You could be a whole size smaller by next month if you’re consistent and you’re nutrition is right.

If you have purchased my transformation guide, then you should be familiar with Antonio Vallardes, the author of the Urban Healthy Cookbook. I am putting together a conference call with him soon. I will let you know when I have a date finalized. This will be a perfect opportunity to ask him questions regarding nutrition.

On May 25th, I will be on the Ultimate Homeschool Exo Radio Show with Cindy Rushton at 8 pm CST. Be sure and catch that show. I will be discussing fitting fitness into your homeschool schedule.

Keep me updated on your progress. It’s so encouraging and motivating to hear the difference fitness has made in your lives.

Hugs~~
