Fail to plan, plan to fail.
You can’t just HOPE you’re going to behave yourself at holiday parties. You can’t just do the same old things you’ve been doing. You can’t just miss breakfast. have a light lunch and then go to a party filled with temptation and not go a little insane on the cheese platter

Healthy Groceries on a Budget
July 25, 2009 by Administrator · 5 Comments
I shared a few months ago that my husband and I were following Dave Ramsey’s “Money Makeover” program. My biggest expenditure has always been groceries. You wouldn’t believe the amount of food 4 girls can put away! So, we have given me a budget of $200 a week.
Well, after studying several couponers and thrifty women online through their blogs, I have been able to get my weekly grocery spending way down. Last week I spent $66 on all our groceries and yesterday I spent $107 plus took my 11 year old daughter out to lunch. Woot!
Here’s a picture of what I got for $107. Read more

I will be attending the Perform Better Summit this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Chicago. I need to have some snacks handy for in between seminars.
The recipe I’m sharing today is cheap to make, loaded with protein and veggies. I’ve used whatever is already handy in my fridge. My kids love these so I have to hide them in the back of the fridge where they won’t find them. Watch this video and see how easy it is. Read more

Happy New Years Eve
December 31, 2008 by Administrator · Leave a Comment
Today is going to be a fun one. We have invited a family to hang out with us tonight. I really enjoy having friends over but we definitely do not do it enough.
With company coming I will be spending a good portion of today getting the house cleaned up and some yummy snacks made. I don’t know why get togethers always have to involved food that can clog arteries. So, I am going against the grain and putting a healthy spread out for the people I care about. They are planning on eating dinner before they come so I am just making snack foods.
My New Years Eve spread will include:
yummy vegetable tray antipasto style
whole grain crackers with real cheese not that manmade gooey junk
fresh fruit salad
turkey breast meatballs with a homemade barbeque sauce
some baked lumpia (a filipino favorite that I am attempting to revamp with phyllo dough. I’ll let you know how it goes)
I know my girlfriend is bringing some chocolate chip cookies for a little naughtiness and I will probably make a sinful dessert to share. I haven’t decided yet what I will be making but there will only be enough servings for everyone to have one slice. In fact, this is the time to enjoy those delectable desserts because you are sharing it with many and less likely to eat more than you are supposed to.
Happy New Years everyone!
Surviving the Weekend – Strategies
November 14, 2008 by Administrator · 1 Comment
I am going to have a crazy weekend. I’m in a Christian band, Spoken For and we are recording our 2nd album this weekend. I never look forward to being away from the family for an entire day or two, but once I get there I always have a great time.
I think the kids enjoy two full days of “daddy time” since he spoils them silly! (Making my angry face)
I have to be there by 8 am tomorrow morning and we will probably record until 6 pm. The guys NEVER eat good. Sherri and I are both avid exercisers so we team up and choose healthy options for lunch.

What Are Your Kids Eating?
November 11, 2008 by Administrator · 1 Comment
In today’s fast paced society, kids are getting the short end of the stick nutritionally. They are overbooked with extracurricular activities that keep them from their families. When they are home they are often found watching television or playing video games. I rarely see kids playing outside in my subdivision. Homemade family dinners are replaced with processed, convenience foods that can be thrown in the microwave. All of this convenience comes with a price – obesity and a diabetes epidemic in our nation.
