A Perfect Squat

The Perfect Butt Firmer

The Perfect Butt Firmer

Squats are one of the most often used exercises in my programs. Why?

1. It recruits a lot of muscle which means a higher caloric expenditure as compared to a seated leg press. This is also a movement that is used in daily activity which makes it a very functional exercise.

2. It increases your range of motion (flexibility) over time when done right.

3. You will build a strong posterior chain, meaning your glutes, hamstrings and lower back will become stronger. When your glutes are strong, you eliminate back and knee pain.

Unfortunately, a lot of women do not squat correctly. I will often hear about sore knees and lower backs from squatting. Since you’re going to see them a lot in my programs, I want to make sure you do these right. Read more

Every summer my girls participate in our library’s summer reading program.  They earn weekly prizes and a chance to attend a big performance at the end.

We will definitely participate again next month, but I also just found out about this new reading program through The Old Schoolhouse. There will be some great prizes and there is a coloring contest right now to jump start your summer fun.  Submissions must be in before June 15th.

You can check it out here.

Fun summer reading!

Out of Disk Space

March 24, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

I didn’t manage to get my workout in yesterday. I ran out of disk space on my webhost site and didn’t know how to increase it. I fiddled around with it too long before sending an SOS to support.

I ended up doing the Pyramid Pulse II workout today. Everyone else on this challenge is enjoying a week of easier workouts while I am playing catch up.

School has been on schedule this week. I spent the last two weeks drilling the days of the week into my little girls’ heads using the Adams Family theme song. So, we took this week off and just let them play.

They are still singing the song and moving the hungry caterpillar along the wall where I put large labels for each day. I really enjoyed this unit study.

My husband was really surprised at my grocery shopping savings yesterday. It was fun to see the look on his face. So, now I will attempt to do even better next week. I have a lot to learn about coupon stacking and such, but my competitive spirit will get me through the learning curve.

Here were the meals today:

#1: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, frozen blueberries, 12 almonds and a cup of coffee
#2: Post workout shake of 1 scoop protein powder, frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup coconut milk and 1 cup water.
#3: Leftover chicken soup from last night’s dinner.
#4: apple and almonds
#5: Teriyaki pork butt roast, steamed broccoli drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and walnuts
#6: Protein pudding

Sneaky Fitness For Kids

March 23, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

We had a very unusual warm day last week. I wanted to take advantage of the chance to get the kids outside and moving.

Exercise for kids should not be like ours. They need to have fun, move and play. This is how physical education is done at the Ramos house.

Get outside and play with your kids. Create some awesome memories. Read more

5 Minute Fat Loss Workout

January 6, 2009 by Administrator · 1 Comment

How would you like to spend no more than 5 minutes doing only one exercise to work your whole body and help you lose body fat fast?  It is possible.  This one exercise demonstrated in the video will do just that.

Because you have to use your whole body to accomplish this exercise, many muscles groups are being recruited which means a higher caloric burn in a shorter period of time.  Give it a try today.

1.  Gone on a diet

You stayed on track for a few weeks, maybe even a few months, didn’t see astounding results and quit, resolving to do better next year.

Everyone Needs a Coach, or two, or three…

My Success Coaches
My Success Coaches

I have to admit that this past weekend was one of the most exciting and exhausting experiences of my life.  I participated this year in a coaching program that completely revamped things in my business but also gave me even more confidence than I thought I could ever possess.

It was awesome to actually meet my coaches in person.  They are great guys and very successful in the fitness business.

It really got me thinking about how important it is to have coaches or mentors in your life.  You should really surround yourself with people who are living and breathing the lifestyle you wish to have.  I have mentors in my Christian walk, in motherhood and in business.

Look for those that not only talk the talk but walk the walk.

If you are looking for a mentor in fitness, look no further.  My online coaching program is your ticket to finally getting in shape and making a difference in the health of your family.  I am living the fitness lifestyle everyday and know the struggles that moms face.  I homeschool four children while running my fitness business and it is definitely a challenge.

Join me and the other women in our online coaching program featured in PFP Magazine and make permanent changes today.

A Poem by Briana Ramos

I am God’s Servant

I wonder when my time to leave earth will come.

I hear the stars singing withjoy.

I see the fairies dancing and singing in the forest.

I want to be a fisher of men for God.

I am God’s servant.

I pretend I’m a Rock Star.

I feel magical as I fly with fairies.

I touch the silky soft blue sky.

I worry about uncured diseases.

I cry for the uncured.

I am God’s servant.

I understand we need money to live.

I say, “God will provide.”

I dream of heaven.

I try to be obedient.

I hope to be close to God.

I am God’s servant.
